Regional Rapid Transit

We see the creation of a regional rapid transit system as essential to our vision. Since 1968 the Baltimore Region has pursued the creation of such a system and constructed two lines, the Metro subway from Owings Mills to Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Central Light Rail from Hunt Valley to BWI and Glenn Burnie. The Red Line was planned to be the third line and the first east-west line in the system. The Transportation Alliance is working with numerous governmental and non-governmental partners to identify alternatives, evaluate them, and recommend the best way forward to local, regional, state and federal decision makers.

connecting people to opportunities

The Central Maryland Transportation Alliance was formed in 2007 as a diverse coalition of corporate and civic leaders uniting business, philanthropic and institutional sectors around a common agenda: improving and expanding transportation options for the citizens and businesses of Central Maryland. Our singular focus is to be a catalyst for improving the region's transportation.
